Description

A nice example of the 1723 edition of Herrera's general map of Florida and the Caribbean. First issued in 1602, Herrera's work is one of the most influential works on the New World to be published in the 17th Century. This example of the map is re-engraved, with a new title, but retains the place names and details of the earlier editions. A number of early placenames in Florida, including Tampa, St. Augustine, and the Mosquito River. The Cayman Islands are named. A nice wide margined example.
