Description

Detailed map of the Delaware River, from Philadelphia and Glocester to Chinlopen and Costen's Inlet, including Cape Map and Cape James. Also names many early Creeks, Rivers, Islands, etc., including, Rehoboth Bay, Lewis, Pilot, Draper's Inlet, Clark's Ditch, Thorofare, Reedy Island & Point, Newcastle, Wilmington, Marcus Hook, Chester, Mud Island, Salem, Bacons Neck, Ben Daviss Pt., Nantuxet Bay, Egg Island, Fortescues Island and the various shipping channels. The map appears to be a reprint of the Gentleman's Magazine edition of the map, issued, during the American Revolution. We were not able to determine the source of the map.

Extends from the Saquesahanoug R in the North to Pomejok and C. de Trafalgar in the South, and inland along the Powhatan R and Toppoahonoc R. Jamestown is located, as is Smythe's Island? A nice example, from the first edition of Mallet's work.
