Description

Striking map of the United States, immediately after the conclusion of the American Revolution. Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia extend to the Mississippi River. East and West Florida appear. Massachussetts Bay is named and Maine is noted as belonging to Massachusetts Bay. Area below the Great Lakes and along the Mississippi Valley is filled with early Indian Tribes and early American Forts. A note in the Atlantic identifies Mt. Vernon as the seat of his Excellency Gen.l Washington. A nice contemporary map of the new American States, from Dr. Gordon's History of the American War, one of the best contemporary accounts of the American Revolution. Several minor spots and a bit of creasing at the bottom right corner (as ususal), but generally a nice example.
