Uncommon map of Philadelphia and Vicinity by Walling & Gray. Shows towns, roads, buildings, rail lines, stations, public squares, wharfs and other local features. Talbe shows the 28 wards, population of Philadlephia (674,022) and Camden (20,045) and the Railroad Passenge Depots (13). Very striking image.

O.W. Gray Biography

O. W. Gray was a publishing firm based in Philadelphia. Later, they published as O. W. Gray & Son. They published atlases in the late nineteenth century. Gray's National Atlas was one of the most successful commercial ventures of the 1870s and one of the last to employ hand coloring on maps.
