Description

Jeremias Wolff's map of the Bavarian Circle. Within the circle, the Duchies of Bavaria and Palatinate-Neuburg; Counties of Werdenfels, Hohenwaldeck, and Ortenburg; Berchtesgaden Provostry; Leuchtenberg; Prince-Bishoprics of Passau and Freising, and the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg are outlined. The cartouche, with the Bavarian coat of arms, is flanked by Ceres, goddess of agriculture, and Diana, goddess of the hunt.

After Wolff's death, his grandson Johann Friedrich Probst inherited his copperplates, at a certain point adding his name and a sheet number, and in 1760 sold most of his plates to Tobias Conrad Lotter, who again changed the name on the plate to his.
