Description
Map of the Theatre of War of the Roman Imperial Majesty and High Allies on the Rhine
Rare separately published map of the the southern half of modern Germany and neighboring regions, published in Nuremberg by Christoph Riegel.
The map shows the area from Düsseldorf in the north to Basel in the south, from Bamberg in the east to Namur in the west, with Kaiserslautern in the center.
Rarity
The map is very rare. We note an example in the Moravian National Library.
Paul Emil Richter also notes an example in the British Library (Bibliotheca geographica Germaniae Litteratur der Landes- und Volkskunde des Deutschen Reichs. Bearb. im Auftrage der Zentral-Kommission für Wissenschaftliche Landeskunde von Deutschland, p. 108, 1896).
Condition Description
Original hand coloring. Narrow margins, with some loss of neatline at the bottom.
