Description

Scarce separately issued pocket map of the Seat of War in Virginia and part of Maryland, centered on Richmond and the line of the Richmond and Roanoake Railroad. The map was issued in Germany to illustrate the battles which had been fought in the early stages of the American Civil War, apparently catering to an interested audience in Eastern Germany. The battles are indicated by date, in and around Richmond. Shows towns, railroad, lines, roads, rivers, court houses, islands, and many other fine details. The map folds to an 8vo size, with the outer edge of the verso containing the printed title on a blue background. One of the few separately issued civil war maps to be printed in Continental Europe. A bit of seperating at the fold intersection with a tiny bit of loss and some minor discoloration along the folds, else a good example. Normally a $750.00 map.
