Legalization / Political Broadsheet -- March on the 1984 Democratic Presidential Convention

"Yerba Buena" is Spanish for "Good Weed"!

Colorful two sided political broadsheet promoting the 1984 Bastille Day Marijuana Parade in San Francisco and July 3-4, 1984 "White House Smoke-In."

Bastille Day

The colored side features a bustling crowd outside the Moscone Center, with a ground trailing into the distance illustrating the rally out front of the Democratic National Convention. The imagery is dense with symbols and landmarks of San Francisco, including the Golden Gate Bridge, TransAmerica Building, Coit Tower, etc., which are illustrated in the background, adding a recognizable sense of place to the scene.

White House Smoke-In

Centered the GOP Elephant standing one-footed atop the White House with an alarmed Nancy and Ronald Reagan clinging to its trunk,  the second uncolored consist of a mob of pot smoking Democratic Donkeys, signifying the upcoming event in Washington D.C., including a Rally at the Lincoln Memorial on July 3, 1984 and a march from the next day to Lafayette Park, and on to the Justice Department and FBI Building.

A marvelous and rare counter-culture broadside.

Rarity

We locate a single example in the collection of the Oakland Museum of Art.
