Description

Nice example of one of the earliest obtainable maps showing the surveys in Kansas and Nebraska, then under the direction of Surveyor General John Calhoun. The map shows the Omaha Indian Reserve, and the reservations of the Otoes, Half Breeds, Kickapoos, Pottawattaamies, Delawares, Kansas, Sacs & Foxes, Shawnees, Pianki Shaws & Weas, Peoria & Kaskaskia, Ottawaws, and Ottawas of Roche De Boeuf, Chippewasrs and New York Indians, along with the Miami Trust, Iowa Trust, and Delaware Trust Lands. Fort Leavanworth, Wyanadott Leavenworth City and Atchison are the only inhabited non-Indian Settlements. One of the most important early maps of the Territories.
