Description

Marvelous birdseye view of Apple Valley, California, prepared by Apple Valley Ranchos Inc.

The view (clearly not to scale), shows Southern California from the Pacific Ocean and Mt. Wilson to the desert and the mountains, following Route 66 up Cajon Pass and into the area of Apple Valley, shown in what would be known as the High Desert.

On the verso is a map of the Town Site, east of the Mojave River.

In the early 1900s, a group of apple farmers from Utah purchased land in the area, with the intention of farming apples in the high desert. They formed the Apple Valley Ranchos Land Company in 1946, and the town was officially founded in 1949.
