This exquisite miniature world atlas comprises maps published by a range of notable 18th-century Dutch mapmakers, including Arent and Gerard van Huissteen, Arend Fokke Simonsz, Steven van Esveldt, Theodorus Crajenschot, and Willem Holtrop, with many maps featuring engravings by Christiaan Sepp, Jan van Jaegn, and Hendrik Klockhoff, spanning the years 1747 to 1778.
The continent maps of Europe, Asia, and Africa are represented by an example each of Fokke and Huissteen's versions. A notable inclusion is a finely detailed small-scale map of the British territories in North America, complete with a detailed inset of Jamaica.
Such atlases are rare in the market, often comprising around 45 maps. This particular complement is exceptional, boasting a total of 58 maps.
