The Old Northwest Territory on the Eve of the Creation Of Michigan Territory
Rare map of Ohio and Northwest Territory, published by Matthew Carey in 1805.
The map shows the newly created state of Ohio (formed March 1, 1805) and Indiana Territory (first formed on July 4, 1800, but shown here just prior to the creation of Michigan Territory (June 30, 1805), which is shown here, but not named.
The map shows a number of early roads, along with the Indian Line across Ohio and the "Army Lands" area.
Several early forts named.
Condition Description
Engraving on late 18th or early 19th century wove paper. Excellent tone and structural stability.
