Description

An unrecorded variant of this rare birdseye view of the region bounded by the Delaware, Chesapeake and Albermarle Sound and extending east to the Ohio River, Summerville and Sutton's Court House. A stunning birdseye view printed by Sarony Major and Knapp and lithographed and engraved by J. Schedler. The forts, railroads, roads, towns, courthouses and other significant geographical features and are shown in a unique topographical/birdseye format. Numerous sailing vessels in the oceans. Only one example of this map has appeared in a dealer catalogue in the past 20 years, and that one with tears and restorations noted. A near fine example, dissected in six sheets and laid on original linen. . Printed on very heavy paper. Sailing veesels are shown in the water. Stephenson 17.3 - 17.35.
