Description

First Edition in a Contemporary Binding.

A wonderful example of the 1847 first edition of Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre, published under the pen name "Currer Bell." This foundational Gothic novel features themes of social criticism, morality, and strong elements of mystery and passion. The story follows the experiences of its orphaned protagonist, Jane Eyre, from her abusive childhood to her employment as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she falls in love with the brooding Mr. Rochester. The narrative style is groundbreaking for its use of the first-person perspective, allowing a deep exploration of Jane's personal consciousness and emotional depth.
