Description
Extremely rare map of Europe, published by Jakob Sandrart.
This is one of the earliest maps engraved by Johann Baptiste Homann, who would go on to be the founder of a cartographic publishing family which would dominate German map and atlas publishing for the next 100 years.
While Sandrart's maps of Africa and America appear occasionally on the market, this map of Europe is extremely rare, this being the first example we have seen on the market.
