Description
Scarce 17th century English map of Barbados.
Engraved small format map of Barbados, published by Richard Blome in later editions of his A Description of the Island of Jamaica.
Blome's map is based on another of the island from the 1670 edition of Ogilby's America.
Barbados was an integral part of the British Empire in America; it generated more trade than any other English colony from 1660 until it was surpassed by Jamaica in 1713.
The map is most detailed along the coast and in the northern quarter of the island.
Condition Description
Trimmed just affecting the neatline at top and bottom. Lightest foxing.
