Description

Decorative old color engraved view of the Seine River and Pont Saint-Michel in Paris.

The view shows the South Bank on one side and the Île de la Cité on the other. The streets are filled with ostentatiously dressed patricians, the river is busy with barge traffic, and the bridge is seen in an old configuration with houses on the entire span, much like the old London Bridge.

Jean François Daumont (fl. 1740-1775) was one of the most prolific creators of vue d'optique in 18th century Paris.

Condition Description
Slight mat stain at the platemark. Can be framed-out.
