Description

Fine early view of Prague, engraved by Wenceslaus Hollar.

Hollar's view of Prague is one of the largest and most elaborate views of Prague from the first half of the 17th Century.

The Charles Bridge is shown at the Center of the map, the Prague Castle on the near side of the river at the left.

Prague was Hollar's birthplace. The view is embellished with 6 coats of arms.

The view is created from 3 separate copper plates, which have been joined. The key at the bottom in Czech, Latin and German, identifies 20 locations.

Condition Description
A few minor spots. Repaired fold split.
